Services include early intervention, preschool, elementary and junior high school academic programs. Its curriculum includes development of receptive and expressive language, academic and social skills and an array of communication accessible support services (speech and language, audiology, psychoeducational, counseling, occupational therapy, physical therapy, health and social services). Variety Camp and Developmental Center

This is a year-round recreation and conference center for consumer and professional groups related to special populations. It offers summer residential camping sessions to eligible children with physical disabilities and day camping for children with developmental disabilities. There is a fee for summer camp with camperships for low-income families. Year-round camping and recreational programs available for children with special needs including adapted aquatics and weekend retreats. Programs Employing People (PEP) Summer Camp

Programs employing People sponsors a summer program for children and youth with developmental and physical disabilities. Camp PEP offers academic and social skills training, physical activities, and fun experiences with other children. The camp is staffed by certified special educational teachers. The camp provides free transportation (normally limited to South Philadelphia), lunch, and an afternoon snack. Activities are offered five days a week, six and one-half hours a day. Pennsylvania Vent Camp

This camp is a week-long overnight camp held in the last week of June at Camp Vicory in Millville, PA. It is free of charge. Activities include horseback riding, swimming, arts and crafts, a visit from Penn State University Medical Center’s Life Lion Helicopter, and campfire sing-a-longs. This camp is run by a group of volunteers, including physicals, nurses, respiratory therapists, speech and language therapists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and non-medical professionals. Each child is paired with a partner, who serves as the child’s caregiver for the week. The camp is barrier-free. Registration for campers is due by the first of the year. Volunteers are also needed. Language Enrichment Preschool Program at the Thorne School

This preschool has programs designed for children with identified speech and language difficulties whose problems may hinder their participation in a traditional preschool program. LEPP is designed for children who are otherwise developing normally. It meets two times a week for 3-4-year-olds and three times a week for 4-5-year-olds.
