Mary is the devoted mother and legal guardian of her only child, an adult son with intellectual disabilities who receives residential supports and services. At an early age, she developed strong interest in social justice. However, it is her and her son’s experience with various systems that serves people with intellectual disabilities that propels her work and effort to sustain a safe, quality, inclusive life for all people with intellectual disabilities. Since 1997 Mary has been employed at the Institute on Disabilities at Temple University where she has worked with a variety of projects and programs. She coordinates and manages long-term projects such as quality of life monitoring for people with disabilities, aging, and/or mental health. She has also co-facilitated projects involving respite care for children with special health-care needs. In addition, she has represented the Institute on Disabilities on committees and boards at other organizations. Mary earned her Master of Social Work Degree from Temple University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education from Albany State College (now known as Albany State University) in Albany.
